Raiders’ owner Mark Davis’ thoughts on relocation

Oakland -soon to be Las Vegas- Raiders owner Mark Davis sat down recently with 95.7 The Game’s JT The Brick where he shared some thoughts on the recent relocation debacle that has dominated the headlines.

“We are going to be building a world-class stadium in the entertainment capital of the world, it’s going to be great for Super Bowls and everything else,”

-Raiders’ owner Mark Davis on his future stadium

In a place as glitzy and luxurious as the city of Las Vegas, a world-class venue is to be expected, leaving Oakland fans wondering what might have been. If the preview photos and slides that have been presented are any indications, then this stadium will rival any of the newest additions to the NFL including “Jerry World” down in Dallas.

Mr. Davis went on to elaborate on his feelings regarding the Raiders’ native fans in Oakland and suggesting that the Bay-area fan base is still very much an important of the Raiders.

“I still have a feeling for the fans in the Bay Area… it makes this whole thing bittersweet,” Davis continued. “Even though we are leaving to play football games in Nevada, in Las Vegas, we’re not going to leave the Bay Area. We’re not going to leave that community, we’re still going to work the foundations, we’re going to work with the schools, and we’re going to continue to give the Raider effort.”

“I understand that there’s anger, disappointment, and I just think it should be pointed at me, and not [quarterback] Derek Carr,  not [defensive end] Khalil Mack, and not the Head Coach, Jack Del Rio, because those guys want to bring a championship to the Bay Area,” Davis added. “The Raider fans are the best in the world, the ones in Oakland are the best in the world.”

-Mr. Davis’ feelings on Oakland fans

With an issue that has divided Raider Nation between fans in Oakland and the rest of the fan base outside of Northern California it’s obvious Davis wants the healing and reconciliation process to get underway. And with another, maybe two, seasons still left to play in Oakland it would certainly be the smart approach, especially business-wise.

Regardless of where you land on all the relocation talk, the fact is, the team is moving, and the season will soon be upon us. Seemingly lost in all this, is that team is expected to contend for a Super Bowl the next few seasons which would ironically close its historical chapter in Oakland in glorious fashion and provide some comfort for the fans in Oakland.
