Originally reported in the Las Vegas Review-Journal, and Tweeted by Ian Rapoport, the Las Vegas Stadium Authority has released a preliminary timeline for construction of a new stadium on land purchased by the Raiders for $77.5 million on May 1. The stadium authority board is expected to discuss the timeline during a scheduled Thursday meeting at the Clark County Government Center.

The timeline’s primary focus for construction on 62 acres of land off the Las Vegas Strip near I-15, and the Mandalay Bay casino is the approvals and other necessary actions needed in the next nine months, including several departmental studies and two reviews: the Clark County High-Impact Project review and the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) review, both slated for completion by August.
While the 30-month timeframe may be aggressive initially, of the seven stadiums most recently built (not including Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta or Los Angeles Stadium at Hollywood Park, both of which are still under construction), two were built in under 30 months (49ers and Eagles), and three of the other five were completed within 35 months.
Here is the timeline as drafted per the Las Vegas Stadium Authority:
August 2017: Clark County High-Impact Process due to be completed, including approval by the seven-member Clark County Commission. Nevada Department of Transportation project review completed. UNLV Board of Regents approval of the joint-use agreement.
September 2017: Latest that Stadium Authority will certify that all Senate Bill 1 findings have been met. All project documents are completed and reviewed by the Authority board. Clark County and NDOT development-infrastructure process overview summary with Authority board.
October 2017: Latest date for final project documents approved by Stadium Authority board.
November 2017: Stadium land will be transferred to the Stadium Authority board by this date. Developers funding provided, as required by Senate Bill 1. Raiders responsible for first $100 million in construction costs
December 2017: Stadium site work begins by this date.
January 2018: Stadium bonds are issued by this date. Stadium construction begins.
June 2020: Stadium construction completed by this date. Raiders begin moving into the facility.
September 2020: Opening of NFL 2020-21 season.
Under the current lease, the Raiders have the option of playing at Oakland-Alameda Coliseum for both 2017-18 and 2018-19, but details for 2019-20 have yet to be solidified, meaning that if the current timeline holds, the Raiders would share Sam Boyd Stadium with the UNLV Rebels for the 2019 season if the city of Oakland does not offer a deal with the Raiders.
