Will the Raiders’ Game Versus the Jets Really Be a Cake Walk?

The Oakland Raiders started their season with a bang last weekend, defeating the young but promising Tennessee Titans in a victory that many thought would be closer than it was. The defense showed up in a big way and impressed the most severe of doubters.

Will the Raiders’ Game Versus the Jets Really Be a Cake Walk?

This weekend, the Raiders are back home in Oakland to meet up with the Jets. This game seems like an automatic win for the Raiders, but is it?

The short and long answer is the same: yes. Even with the few defensive concerns that remain, however much they were diminished on opening weekend, the Silver and Black still has the far superior team. The Jets are in rebuilding mode, which is the most diplomatic way of saying that their house burned down and they have to start again from brick and mortar.

Probably the two most recognizable names on the Jets roster are Jermaine Kearse and Matt Forte, Kearse mainly because of his time in Seattle because he does not have big numbers to show for it. Forte has been a good running back throughout his career, but his twilight years are taking their toll. Expecting a big game from him with the likes of 38-year old Josh McCown handing off the ball is nonsensical.

With the challenges surrounding the Jets organization, there’s no reason to expect anything but a cake walk for the Raiders this weekend. Barring some unfortunate event, like a fluke pass rush that gets through and causes some sort of injury, Oakland walks away with this one and looks forward to the next, slightly more challenging contest, the Washington Redskins.
