Raiders’ Khalil Mack Dominating Since Day One

Ever since the Oakland Raiders selected linebacker/defensive end Khalil Mack No. 5 overall in the 2014 NFL draft, he has been a dominant force since Day 1.

Raiders’ Khalil Mack Dominating Since Day One

As a rookie, Mack didn’t record a sack until a Week 11 road game against the then San Diego Chargers, however, don’t let that fool you into thinking it wasn’t a productive campaign for this guy. Mack is undoubtedly one of the leagues most feared pass rushers, and with that, his presence in the run game often gets overlooked.

In 2014 Mack ranked as the NFL’s top run stopper according to Pro Football Focus. In the Raiders final seven games of the season in 2014, Mack would begin to hit his stride in sack totals as well, as he brought down opposing passers four times to conclude his rookie season.

For Mack, the 2015 season once again was another dominating display of his capabilities of dismantling opposing offenses. Mack finished as the second highest rated run stopper while adding 15 more sacks to his name. In 2016, Mack had his lowest ranking for stopping the run, albeit, he still had a high-rank coming in at third.

This past season, Mack once again regained his throne atop the charts and was the leagues’ top run stopper while posting a third consecutive season of double-digit sacks with 10.5. No doubt Mack will continue this trend under new defensive coordinator Paul Guenther this coming season.
