Martavis Bryant set to rejoin Oakland Raiders

The Oakland Raiders pulled a big trade on draft day back in April when they gave up a third-round draft pick for the troubled Martavis Bryant. Despite his repeated infractions with substance abuse, the Raiders continued their draft day trend by taking a risk on the young speed burner.

To the dismay of many, the trade essentially backfired, and Oakland cut Bryant while the Steelers got an extra third-round pick out of it. Bryant cleared waivers and became a free agent, but his wait to join a team could soon be over.

Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport are reporting that he could be rejoining the Raiders squad, sooner rather than later.

In a week one loss to the L.A. Rams, Derek Carr only completed five passes to wide receivers while the other 24 were spread out amongst tight ends and running backs. The potential re-addition of Bryant is much needed as the Raiders offense was sputtering in the second half.

Raider fans can expect to see Bryant on the field in week two as the Raiders are slated to take on the Broncos in the Mile High City.

“The Raiders and Martavis Bryant are closing in on a 1-year deal — and barring any hiccup, he’s expected to play this week, per team source. Not officially signed yet, but they called him this morning and it’s expected to get done today. Quite the twist.” per Tom Pelissero
