Around The Ramble: Week 4

After four weeks in the NFL season, the Oakland Raiders finally tasted victory (and Jon Gruden’s first victory since returning) and in dramatic fashion no less. Let’s take a look and see what the crew at the Raider Ramble had to say about the win this week.

@sik0simmons

HUZZAH! Comeback Carr reared his god-fearing eyelined face and pride victory from the jaws of defeat. People will point to the missed calls by officials, mind-blowing interceptions, and the lack of Khalil Mack but in the end, Derek Carr delivered.

If Carr can keep the heat he was slinging at the end of the game then the Raider offense will be prepared to drop points week in and week out, but it remains to be seen.

Derek Carr willed his team to its first win of the season with the help of an offense that would not relent. The defense remains atrocious but forced timely turnovers to keep their head above water. A win is a win in the NFL no matter how unsightly it looks. Raider Nation can rejoice even if it is only for a short period of time.

@jackasspuria

The Oakland Raiders, the beneficiaries of overturned calls? Say it isn’t so!?

In a game of many big plays, the one that stood out to me was Gareon Conley swatting a 2-point conversion catch from a Browns wide receiver’s hands.

It was a game where youth (Conley, Maurice Hurst, etc.) showed their promise and in a season muddied by disconcerting defeats, that little light at the end of the tunnel bodes well.

It was ugly and by all accounts quite literally heart stopping but the Oakland Raiders finally did it. No, it wasn’t pretty but in the end but as the saying goes, “a win is a win.”

Yes, there’s still plenty of work for the Raiders to do before we can talk about a “turnaround” but at least now the team is headed in the right direction. Oh, and did anyone mention how much of a beauty it is to see Marshawn Lynch run? Just keep feeding him, simple.

@humorousfiend

Raiders may have got some breaks in this one, but they finished strong. Derek Carr disappointed early, but he closed the game with more touchdowns (4) than interceptions (2). Rookie kicker Matt McCrane also missed some kicks, but he made the game-winning one in overtime to push the Raiders to a 45-42 win that just might give this team the confidence to roll out a couple wins in a row.
