Degeneration R: Taking on the NFL Lines Week 16

Record Last Week: At least we were both terrible.

Rory: 5-10-1

Chris: 5-10-1

Record Year To Date: Still getting worse.

Rory: 97-118-9

Chris: 103-112-9

WAS @ TEN -10

Rory: When the Titan defense is on it will blow up an offensive gameplan. With the garbage quarterback situation in Washington, I think they keep that offense almost off the board.

Chris: I like the Redskins in this matchup. I’m not sold that they can win it, although I don’t think they lose by double-digits.

BAL @ LAC -6

Rory: The Chargers may be on a roll as Chris points out, but this is the Chargers we are talking about and no team in the NFL competes with them in terms of having randomly disappointing games. Ravens win this outright.

Chris: The Chargers got all the momentum in the world going for them right now, and I think that carries over into their matchup against the Ravens this week.

TB @ DAL -8.5

Rory: Dallas for all intents and purposes should win this game. I also expect Amari Cooper to get back on track in a big way, but Jameis is feisty and should do enough to keep the Bucs in it.

Chris: Haven’t we seen this movie before, where the Cowboys self destruct at seasons end? Pretty sure we have, and I think we see it yet again. I’ll take the Bucs.

NYG @ IND -9.5

Rory: I love me some Colts against the not so Giants.

More NFL Lines

Chris: The Colts defense gets no love from the media and that’s a shame! Former Raiders Denico Autry and Jihad Ward are having stand out seasons and are huge contributors to the success of that unit. I’ll take the Colts at home.

HOU @ PHI +3.5

Rory: With a broken Carson Wentz now sidelined, the air has officially gone out of the sails for the Eagle’s season. Houston is continuing to rally and they should win this game without too much panic.

Chris: Nick Foles is back! Last year he came in for an injured Carson Wentz, led a victory of the Rams and this season he did the exact same thing. I don’t think another Super Bowl run is in store for the Eagles, but a win this week is.

JAC @ MIA -3.5

Rory: At this point in the season it behooves one to ride with the bubble playoff team with momentum over the flaming trash heap. Generally speaking. Dolphins cover.

Chris: The Jags are bad…like really bad. The Dolphins are another team that doesn’t get much recognition, yet Adam Gase has them as a viable contender to make the playoffs again for the second time in three years.

GB @ NYJ +3

Rory: At some point things will come around for the Packers this season.

Chris: With both teams out of playoff contention, I’ll take the home team, J-E-T-S, JETS JETS JETS.

CIN @ CLE -7

Rory: To quote Vizzinni from the classic movie “The Princess Bride”, the fact the Bengals have 6 wins is “INCONCEIVABLE!” That’s why the Browns win big.

Chris: Despite each team having 6 wins, as of right now the Browns are clearly the better team between the two.

MIN @ DET +4

Rory: Detroit has continued to be an utter disaster this season when most people thought they would show some life. Minnesota is showing some life and the Vikings should roll up the Lions.

Chris: I think the Vikings win last week was able to serve as much needed confidence boost as well as cool the hot seat for head coach Mike Zimmer. I see the momentum spilling over into this week against the Lions.

BUF @ NE -10.5

Rory: Josh Allen can go run himself to a cold dark hole in the ground. 10.5 points is not enough for me to bet on the Bills and I think the Patriots go off in a big way.

Chris: There is no way the Patriots lose three in a row, it’s just not going to happen.

ATL @ CAR -3.5

Rory: With Cam Newton’s throws looking like his arm went numb half way through his motion, Cam will do more harm than good. Atlanta getting more than a field goal here is too tempting.

Chris: The Panthers need to shut down Cam Newton to preserve his health for the future. He is clearly not himself right now. I got the Falcons here.

CHI @ SF +4.5

Rory: As much of a revelation Nick Mullens has been, he will be going against a very talented defense. Expect Nagy to try to get an early lead to force the Niners to pass and the Bears coast to a win.

Chris: I like the way the Niners squad has played as of late. I think they are able to pull the upset on the Bears this week.

LAR @ AZ +13.5

Rory: Don’t overthink this, eat the chalk. Rams and jalapenos to balance out the chalk.

Chris: What is going on with the Rams!? Whatever the issue is, I think it gets resolved this week against a terrible Cardinals team.

More Lines

PIT @ NO -7

Rory: Speaking of teams who have had weird results recently, the recent poor performances for the Saint’s offense should end against a mediocre defense on the carpet.

Chris: The Saints were able to squeak a win out last week and will have a much tougher challenge as they host the Steelers. I like Pit to pull this one off in a shootout.

KC @ SEA PE

Rory: No points for the Seahawks at home? Give me the Chiefs then.

Chris: This could end up as a dark horse super bowl matchup. Very unlikely but hey, it could still happen. I like the Hawks at home.

DEN @ OAK +2.5

Rory: This will be the last game we ever seen in Oakland for the Raiders. This must for the sake of all things holy be a victory.

Chris: It’s Town Business!! Call me a homer all you want. I think the Raiders come out and put on a great final performance to wrap up their time in Oakland. I say Cash Money Carlson knocks in a game-winning field goal as time expires.

Where we disagree: WAS @ TEN -10, BAL @ LAC -6, HOU @ PHI +3.5, GB @ NYJ +3, CHI @ SF +4.5, PIT @ NO -7, KC @ SEA PE
