Heading into the offseason, the Raiders needed to improve their offensive line. The team signed tackle Trent Brown to secure the edge, but also traded away guard Kelechi Osemele creating a need at left guard. Jon Feliciano also left for Buffalo in free agency, which only intensified the team’s need for a guard.

Is the Richie Incognito Signing a Desperation Move by the Raiders?
Fast-forward to the NFL Draft and Oakland still did not have a replacement for Osemele. You would think that the team would use the draft to address this need, but the draft ended and the Raiders didn’t pick up an offensive guard. This meant that Denzelle Good, who has played in 12 games in the last two years, was the team’s starter at left guard heading into minicamp and OTAs. Taking all of this and other factors into consideration, the Richie Incognito signing feels like bit of a desperation move.
