Raiders and Chiefs: Tale of the Tape

Here are some key data ahead of today’s Raiders game in Kansas City. Enjoy!

Record Chiefs vs Raiders

Overall: 7-4 6-5

Conference: 5-3 4-3

Home: 2-3 5-1: 3-0 2-1

Away: 5-1 1-5

Quarterback comp/att, total yards, TD/INT, rating

Derek Carr: 239/337 2,621-15-6-101

Patrick Mahomes: 212/323 2,808-19-2-110

Mahomes has missed some time because of injuries this season, but even then, still holds a slight edge over Carr.

Advantage: Chiefs

Running Backs attempts, total, yards TDs, fumble

Raiders (total rushing) 305-1,350-10-7

-Josh Jacobs 201-957-7-1

-Jalen Richard 22-73-0-0

-Deandre Washington 46-151-1-0

Chiefs (total rushing) 240-1,038-9-5

-LeSean McCoy 79-400-3-2

-Damien Williams 83-309-3-1

-Darrel Williams 35-128-3-1

Jacobs can pretty much fit all three of the Chiefs running backs in his stats. Not to mention, Richard and Washington are used as change of pace or check-downs.

Advantage: Raiders

Related: Key Raiders Offensive Players vs the Chiefs

Receivers receptions yards, TD, fumble

Raiders (total)

-Darren Waller 59-707-3-0

-Tyrell Williams 32-480-5-0

-Hunter Renfrow 36-396-2-0

Chiefs (total)

-Travis Kelce 63-833-4-0

-Sammy Watkins 42-538-3-2

-Tyreek Hill 33-543-5-0

On paper, receivers are not too far apart, but given that Hill and their quarterback missed significant time and with Renfrow out for the time being, it is safe to say the Chiefs have the more consistent aerial weapons

Advantage: Chiefs

O-line sacks allowed, QB hits allowed, rushing yds

Raiders: 16-32-1,350

Chiefs: 19-55-1,038

Both offensive lines provide decent run blocking and while I think the Silver and Black have a better O-line, they have been plagued with injuries. Even then, they do not fall that far down and have been key to Jacobs running and Carr’s health.

Advantage: Raiders

Defense pts/gm, total pts, tackles/assists sacks, pass defl, INT FF, Defensive TD

Raiders 20.7 228 507/176 26 56 8 6 2

Chiefs 28 308 501/232 32 56 10 12 2

On paper, neither team has a great defense but neither has been horrible either, overall. The Silver and Black’s defense has shown flashes of greatness, and flashes of just being downright horrible. Consistency is key, but fortunately, Kansas can be just as inconsistent.

Advantage: Chiefs

Special Teams team rankings Kicking:

-Raiders 3rd

-Chiefs 9th

Kick return:

-Raiders 4th

-Chiefs 7th

Field goals: attempts made XPM/A rank

-Raiders 11-15 27/28 13th

-Chiefs 28-24 32/34 T-1st

Punts: punts yards rank

-Raiders 48-2,233 9th

-Chiefs 37-1,637 13th

These units are fairly matched. The Silver and Black have the slight advantage on kickoffs, returns, and punts. Chiefs have the bigger advantage and more experience with their kicker.

Conclusion

Overall, the Chiefs have the clear advantage being at home. Stat wise, they have a slight advantage. We also don’t know what Raiders team will show up. If it’s the imposters that showed up in New York, the game is over by halftime. If it’s the team that showed up on TNF against fellow rival Chargers, we are in for one hell of a game.

While Kansas holds the advantage, Oakland should want it more, and can win. These are not the same Raiders that dropped seven straight in Arrowhead.

This could be a trap game. Chiefs could be looking at Patriots next week. Again, it all comes down to which team shows up, we know what Kansas team will.

Prediction: Raiders 23 – Chiefs 20
