Wide receiver is a dilemma the Las Vegas Raiders will be addressing soon. How they do it cannot be foreseen, but if free agency provides options, why not give potential free agent Albert Wilson a shot?
At first glance, Wilson wouldn’t be an impact signing but he might be precisely what the Raiders need right now. This past season, the team took a gamble on a “superstar” wide receiver and it backfired deeply. Incumbent starting quarterback Derek Carr needs weapons if the squad hopes to make a splash in Las Vegas.
Wilson would flourish in Gruden’s system with Raiders
From a team standpoint, Wilson can flourish in head coach Jon Gruden’s offense. His 43 receptions last season along with a Pro Football Focus rating of 62.3 may be indicative of a possible fit. It’s noteworthy the team will be bringing back Tyrell Williams, which bodes well for Carr chemistry wise. Wilson in a group with Williams, Zay Jones, and Hunter Renfrow could be exactly what Carr needs to get the Raiders back to the playoffs.

Wilson’s two years with the Miami Dolphins proved to be productive as he totaled 69 receptions, 742 receiving yards, and five touchdowns with a catch percentage of over 70%. He’s also 28 years old, meaning he still has a lot of football ahead of him barring a disastrous injury.
Hal Habib of the Palm Beach Post recently stated that his injuries, which cost him 12 games in two seasons, is the primary factor why the team is possibly moving on from the Wilson. If the Raiders can get him at the right price, general manager Mike Mayock shouldn’t hesitate to pull the trigger.
