WR Demarcus Robinson Should Be On Raiders’ Radar

If the Las Vegas Raiders want to get Derek Carr better weapons this offseason, they should take look at Demarcus Robinson.

NFL free agency is fast approaching and everyone’s waiting to see what Raiders general manager Mike Mayock will do. It’s no secret the wide receiver corps needs a face lift if quarterback Derek Carr’s expected to thrive in Year 3 under Jon Gruden. Robinson, a 2016 fourth round pick, who’s only 25 years old could provide a nice boost.

WR Demarcus Robinson Should Be On Raiders’ Radar

Vic Tafur of The Athletic, recently said in his weekly mailbag that fans should keep an eye on Robinson.

Tim O. asks, The Chiefs might not be able to afford Sammy Watkins after paying Chris Jones. Would he be a good fit in Gruden’s offense?

The Chiefs receiver I would watch for the Raiders is Demarcus Robinson.

Does It Make Sense?

As far as it making sense for the Raiders, it definitely does. Robinson has a lot of upside thanks to his age, speed, and relative health since being in the league. His numbers aren’t exactly eye-opening but what do you expect playing in a group as deep as one as the Chiefs. There’s evidence of Robinson trending up in his receiving yards but also the increasing yards per reception average that went up each of the past three years.

Would Robinson be signed to be the number one option? Of course not. But the Raiders need quality depth at wide receiver. The instability that has plagued that position for the last two years must end. The moment you pair Robinson with Hunter Renfrow, Tyrell Williams, and someone like a Jerry Jeudy or Henry Ruggs III, the Silver and Black wide receiver corps instantly become a group to keep an eye on.

  1. Absolutely, if the Raiders can’t resign Agholor at a decent price, Robinson could be a good fall back plan. Weaken a division foe and add a young speedy playmaker at a reasonable cost. Robinson could also help our return team.

His speed would be very close to Agholor. Robinson didn’t seem to have enough opportunities on such a deep team in KC.
