It wasn’t a shock to hear rookie wide receiver Henry Ruggs III will be out against the New England Patriots, as the Las Vegas Raiders announced early in the week that he wasn’t playing. On the other hand, running back Josh Jacobs’ status for the game wasn’t as clear, but this week’s inactive list clarify it.

The Raiders made some roster moves due to the injuries they had
Guard Richie Incognito didn’t finish the game against the New Orleans Saints in Week 2. We didn’t know at the time how serious it was but later found out that he will need some time to recover. Therefore, the Raiders placed him on the Injury Reserve list, and will eventually come back to the lineup.
Incognito wasn’t the only Raiders ‘hog molly’ dealing with injuries. Sam Young suffered a groin injury in Week 1 and they listed him as questionable all week long. He’s out against the Patriots. This will be the second game in a row tackle Trent Brown misses after sustaining a calf injury in the season opener. Offensive lineman Denzelle Good was also part of the injury report all week long and received the questionable designation. We now know he will play.

Due to the uncertainty regarding the Raiders offensive line, it made sense they elevated guard Patrick Omameh from their practice squad. They also activated cornerback Madre Harper and Kyle Emmanuel ahead of their Week 3 matchup. However, Harper will be inactive. Tight end Darren Waller’s name had the questionable designation as well but he said he would play against the Patriots.
Jacobs was listed as questionable too but is active. Without Ruggs, Nick Kwiatkoski, and Incognito, the Raiders won’t be at full strength against the Patriots. However, they have enough playmakers to partake in what looks to be a tough matchup. The Patriots lost their last game against the Seahawks and surely aren’t happy. For their part, the Raiders will look to earn their third straight win of the year.
