We give credit where it is due, Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has been deadly with his accuracy in the early going this year.
After a long offseason filled with rumors and conjecture, Carr sits comfortably as the Raiders starting quarterback. Critics and fans will often over-analyze every single one of Carr’s play, which comes with being the Raiders quarterback. So far, Carr has impressed with his accuracy and this has played a large role in the team sitting at 2-1.
Carr’s arsenal as a whole, including tight end Darren Waller and to an extent running back Josh Jacobs, has been top-notch. So much so that Carr’s biggest critic, Josh Dubow of the Associated Press, recently tweeted on his receivers.

By The Numbers for the Raiders QB
Through three games, Carr has done his job all things considered. He is missing Henry Ruggs III, who clearly added another dimension to head coach Jon Gruden’s offense. Also, Tyrell Williams will be out all of 2020, and rookie Bryan Edwards won’t be available for a while. Injuries notwithstanding, Carr has spread around the ball on his way to throwing for six touchdowns and more importantly, zero interceptions.
In this span, Carr has totaled 784 passing yards off of 74 completions out of 100 attempts. So far, Carr has only thrown away four passes. Even more notable is that he only has nine poor throws with an 84.4 percentage of on-target throws per pass attempt. If there’s one concern it would be that Carr has had eight passes batted away at the line of scrimmage, he had nine for all of 2019.
Whether you like Carr or not, the often besieged signal-caller is holding down his position. Right now, the Raiders need their defense to get on par with the offense if they hope to make any noise.
