Raiders Should Consider WR Breshad Perriman’s Services in 2021

The Las Vegas Raiders will need to add a veteran wide receiver depending on what they do with their current group. Breshad Perriman may be of some assistance.

Raiders general manager Mike Mayock and head coach Jon Gruden have some tough choices to make in 2021. On one hand, Nelson Agholor emerged as the team’s top wide receiver. The problem is he will command some serious money, given his 2020 performance.

To complicate matters, the team’s brass needs to make a decision on Tyrell Williams. The injury-plagued receiver hasn’t made an impact after plantar fasciitis ruined his 2019 campaign. He has upside but given his current contract, the team may be better off moving on from him.

Pro Football Focus predicts that Perriman will sign for $7.5 million guaranteed for a two-year deal. The Raiders are currently $7 million over the cap and based on how much money they may have at their disposal, Perriman could provide an affordable option in this year’s free agency period.

What can Perriman bring to the Raiders?

A victim of playing for the 2020 New York Jets, Perriman could still be a solid addition. He was the 26th overall selection of the 2015 NFL draft and got off to a slow career start. It wasn’t until 2019 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that Perriman finally shined. That year, he accumulated 645 receiving yards off of 36 receptions and scored six touchdowns. In addition, Perriman had zero drops that year to go along with 29 first down conversions on his own.

Unfortunately, as a member of the Jets, his overall production took a hit. His receiving yards regressed to 505 and he had half as many touchdowns with three. With Derek Carr throwing to him, Perriman could become a solid number-two wide receiver depending on what the roster looks like.

  1. Totally agree with this article. Perriman was on the list last year but Agholor was a better find. If Williams is gone and Agholor out price himself, Perriman would be a good option to keep the salary cap low and save more money on the defensive side of the ball.

  2. WR, LB, DE…..WE NEED A FRIGGIN -QB-!!!!!! Time for Derek CarrBAGE to pack up is 14% season win percentage and go take 3rd string somewhere like Dallas. How muchblonger are you gonna make yhe Raider Nation SUFFER by not trading this BUM!?
