Tennessee Titans general manager Jon Robinson will have some tough decisions regarding his roster, and the Las Vegas Raiders ought to consider two of their potential cap casualties if Robinson parts ways.
Much like the Titans, the Raiders will need to part ways with some expensive contracts to attain some financial flexibility. Contracts belonging to Tyrell Williams, Lamarcus Joyner, and Trent Brown are currently hurting the team’s finances. This is because the team hasn’t received much in return for these pricey commitments.
With so many needs to address on defense, the Raiders will have to invest resources once again in 2021. Attempting to return to relevance will require investing during the NFL draft and in free agency. Robinson could part with several contributors this offseason which could benefit the Raiders. There are two of those potential cuts that the Silver and Black should consider.

DaQuan Jones could clog up the middle for the Raiders
A former fourth-round pick, DaQuan Jones could be an upgrade in the middle for the Silver and Black. If the team cannot retain Johnathan Hankins and parts ways with Maliek Collins, they will need to fill the hole. Jones has played as an outside rusher but the last two years, he’s been the Titan’s starting nose tackle. Standing at six-foot-four and 322 pounds, Jones could upgrade the interior alongside a rookie such as Christian Barmore.
Since making the move to the inside, Jones has accumulated 50 solo tackles, four tackles for a loss, three passes defensed, and 20 pressures. Jones could be an upgrade over Collins when going off their 2020 production.
Corey Davis could replace Nelson Agholor
The wide receiver position for the Raiders will require some tough choices. The team could lose out on both Nelson Agholor and Tyrell Williams. Optimally, Las Vegas would likely prefer keeping Agholor after having a comeback level year and proving to be a locker room leader. Nevertheless, if ‘Nelly’ moves on and the team parts with Williams’ contract, they could look to Corey Davis.
While Allen Robinson is the splash-level name we hear about, Davis could be a potentially more dangerous upgrade. The fifth overall pick of the 2017 NFL draft is set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Statistically speaking, Davis’ best season far in his young career was last year for the Titans. He posted 65 receptions, 984 receiving yards, five touchdowns, and an impressive 15.1 yards per reception average.
As you can see below, Davis would give the Raiders a number one threat with breakaway speed and the ability to stretch the field. This speedster, whose longest reception in 2020 went for 75 yards, could fill Agholor’s shoes and be the weapon that Williams never materialized into.
