As we inch closer to the NFL draft, the home of the Las Vegas Raiders continues to be on a roll with good developments.
The 2020 NFL season was a strange one, considering the world was in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. The league continued with its season albeit with major modifications, the biggest being the loss of live crowds. Most, not all, stadiums barred live attendance including the Raiders’ newly christened Allegiant Stadium. The NFL’s latest crown jewel in its repertoire of modern arenas didn’t host its fan base, Raider Nation, in 2020. This season, however, is so far is shaping up to be different.
With both the Covid-19 vaccine becoming readily available and a decline in numbers, there’s been a bevy of positive developments. MGM CEO Bill Hornbuckle and Nevada governor Steve Sisolak are working to have the stadium fully open to fans by July. That certainly bodes well for Raider Nation, as they will be able to watch their beloved team live once again. Also, it was recently revealed that Allegiant will be hosting an international soccer tournament. Las Vegas will be hosting the CONCACAF’s Gold Cup final at Allegiant, a first for ‘Sin City.’

Raiders’ Allegiant open for public tours…
A proposed July deadline for getting fans back in and hosting a major soccer event is surely good news. Now, the Raiders are opening tours to fans who didn’t have a personal seat license. Mick Akers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal recently broke down the tour itself and said the earliest available slot as of this past Thursday was April 23. The tour lasts about 75 minutes and has stops in private suites, club spaces, the broadcast booth, and the team’s locker rooms. In addition, Raider Nation’s allowed to visit the Al Davis Memorial Torch and the playing field itself.
As a side note, Akers mentioned that Nevada residents along with veterans and active-duty military, law enforcement, firefighters, and first responders will get a 10 percent discount. Front line workers such as hospital employees will also get a discount. It’s the least that Allegiant can do after the work these brave men and women have put in over the last year. All in all, good news as a sense of normalcy slowly returns for some people.
