New Raiders RB Wants To Epitomize The Silver And Black’s Swagger

One of the Las Vegas Raiders’ newest additions sounded very self-assured in deciding to don the Silver and Black. We’re referring to running back Kenyan Drake, who figures to have a major impact in 2021.

Deciding to invest in the running back position received mixed reviews this offseason. On one hand, the Raiders needed to allocate as much of their resources to address the defense as they could. Well, they did this by signing a slew of quality veterans along with revamping their defensive backfield via the NFL draft. By the same token, not upgrading the offense would’ve been foolhardy given that the run game dipped last year. After deciding that their offensive line needed to be more athletic, the Raiders also realized Josh Jacobs needed help. Drake’s addition would appear to be the jump start that the Raiders’ run game needs and the former Alabama product is all in.

Drake is all in on the Raiders’ swagger

With OTAs in full swing for the Silver and Black, Drake recently sat down with Erin Coscarelli where he further elaborated on his offseason decision. Drake noted that Raiders head coach Jon Gruden pitched a good pitch to him. Apparently, coach Gruden pointed out that Drake would help in several facets of the offense. Since 2016, he has hauled in 169 receptions totaling 1,244 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Adding a reliable receiver to the backfield is huge, not to mention Drake believes he can line up outside wide as well.

Confidence in his abilities notwithstanding, Drake’s also big on the Raiders’ swagger. He believes that you need this level of confidence to wear the Silver and Black which should have fans excited. Citing the organization’s aura as a deciding factor, which exists regardless of the state of the organization. It can be argued whether the Raiders still have that aura Drake alluded to but it bodes well for the team that they got themselves a player that wants to hold himself to such a high standard.
