Playing well so far, the Las Vegas Raiders are riding their preseason MVP in Nathan Peterman to its conclusion tomorrow.
The Raiders could very well end up going undefeated this preseason, an accomplishment in itself. While the record holds no bearing on the 2021 campaign, there have been several positive developments so far. One bright example is the play of rookie Nate Hobbs, all of a sudden, the Raiders have found themselves a starting nickel corner. As far as the quarterback position, Peterman has made the most of his current opportunity.

No Carr, No Problem For The Raiders
It’s been an interesting preseason as fans have yet to see Derek Carr or any of the ‘key’ offensive starters. Also missing in action has been slated backup signal-caller, Marcus Mariota. Still recovering from his injury, it’s likely we won’t be seeing ‘8‘ anytime soon, at least not till the regular season commences. Speaking on Mariota’s status, head coach Jon Gruden shed light on the quarterback situation.
“There’s a conversation we have together and with the trainer before every game — I don’t want to play Mariota if he’s not 100 percent. His style of play doesn’t really allow that. At least in the preseason, I don’t want him cutting it loose. So he’s questionable for the game… But right now, Peterman will start and Peterman will finish until I get better information.”Â
In Mariota and Carr’s stead, Peterman has been steering the Raiders offense, gaining a hard-fought victory last weekend against the Los Angeles Rams.
So far, Peterman has thrown for a touchdown and three interceptions, completing 45 out of 63 pass attempts. Something to keep an eye on tomorrow will be the offensive line. Las Vegas has given up seven sacks so far, if this trend continues, there’ll be some concern heading into Monday Night Football next month.
