Gamble Ramble: Betting The Raiders In Week 4

It’s a divisional rival. It’s Monday Night Football. The Las Vegas Raiders are undefeated heading into the game. What could make it better? How about waking up Tuesday morning a little bit richer? All odds are as of Saturday afternoon via Draft Kings.

Smartest Bet: Darren Waller to Score (+125)

Waller has not been as dominant the last couple of weeks, and he only has one touchdown on the year so far. I don’t care. Waller is too good of a player to go three games without finding the end zone. Also, this game has a ton of shootout potential. Those two things, plus a pretty juicy line, equals a smart bet.

Safest Bet: Derek Carr OVER 281.5 Passing Yards(-115)

Carr throwing for over 300 yards for yet another game feels like a gimme. As I mentioned above, the shootout potential is high. The Chargers offense has a lot of firepower, and the Raiders will have to keep up. The run game does not seem to be likely to contribute to that effort. ‘DC‘ will once again be tasked with carrying this offense. Even if this game doesn’t go well for Vegas, Carr should still be right around three bills with how the offense operates.

Best Risky Bet: Raiders to Win by 13-18 (+1300)

On paper, this feels like a 50/50 game. However, a deeper look into the context of this game reveals the potential for a blowout. The Chargers are coming off of a huge win over Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. They could be due for a letdown. On the other side, while the Raiders may have beaten Miami last week, it sure didn’t feel like a win. They shot themselves in the foot several times and let the Dolphins back in the game late. In the end, they needed overtime to beat a team quarterbacked by Jacoby Brissett. This could be a bounce-back game for the Silver and Black. These factors could turn a close game into a blowout. That said, Jon Gruden just isn’t aggressive enough to blow a team out by 20 or more points.
