Raiders WR’s Rehash: Tim Brown’s Thoughts and Antonio Brown Sighting

The wide receiver conundrum is quickly coming to a head for the Las Vegas Raiders. Recently, Tim Brown shared his thoughts on it and unsurprisingly, Antonio Brown also popped up in the news.

The Hall of Famer Weighs In

Appearing on the Upon The Review show with Eddie Paskal, the Hall of Famer reflected on a time when he was in the middle of constant flux at wide receiver.
Looking back at 2019, Brown reminisced of a time when the receiver opposite of him changed every week.

“…It made it tough for everybody, you only get one week then you’re out…”

Eerily similar to what happened this past season as quarterback Derek Carr never had a reliable wide receiver group. In their defense though, Brown mentioned that the injury to Tyrell Williams was a major factor for the season, good or bad. Add in the Antonio Brown debacle and it was a perfect storm. Funny enough though the Hall of Famer “picked the Raiders last season to go 9-7” which was close to the 7-9 the team ended up going.

Brown added that he has his eyes on a couple of receivers in this upcoming draft, CeeDee Lamb and Jerry Jeudy. It sounds like he expects the team to reload at wide out. To close, he said something that should excite Raider Nation next year:

“I know what Jon can do a lot with little, but man, what he can do with a lot would be amazing.”

Improbable Comeback For Antonio?

Staying on the subject, Antonio Brown, who caused a tailspin at the position, was back in the news. This time claiming he and head coach Jon Gruden “have spoken.”

To blame what might’ve been for the Raiders last season solely on Brown would be disingenuous. At one point last year, the Silver and Black had a 6-4 record without him, yet, would they have been 8-2 with him at the same juncture? We’ll never know but what is known is that Brown was on the Load Management podcast recently. There, he shared an interesting tidbit on his current dealings with Gruden.

“I just talked to Jon Gruden today, might I say. I don’t know how it’s going to go, but who knows? If they want to bring it back, we’ll think about it.”

Is this something? Probably not, but it doesn’t necessarily mean its nothing at all. If Brown is still in speaking terms with Gruden that alone merits intrigue.
