Two Raiders WRs From 2020 Rookie Class Stood Out in Camp

While the 2020 NFL season has yet to kick off, two Las Vegas Raiders rookies made waves at training camp. The two youngsters are the much-hyped Henry Ruggs III and Bryan Edwards.

Needing to upgrade the wide receiver position, Raiders brass went all in by drafting both Ruggs and Edwards. After an injury ended Tyrell Williams’ 2020 campaign before it even started, the Raiders will be starting two rookies. At first glance, this might be concerning, however, both of these newcomers come in prepared.

Michael Renner of Pro Football Focus recently spotlighted which rookies had the most impressive camps. Among Renner’s selections was Edwards from the Silver and Black, who will be starting at the “X” position during Week 1. For Ruggs, his blazing speed has turned heads in camp but he showed he’s more than just that. His one-handed catch from quarterback Derek Carr made waves during camp and if he can play like that on game day, Raider Nation will be elated.

Will Edwards Continue His Dominance With The Raiders?

Recently via The Athletic, Vic Tafur shed light on Edwards, as people familiar with the wide receiver weighed in on his dominance. Most notably, was Chuck Jordan who coached Edwards at Conway High, saying, “Nothing Bryan has ever done has surprised me. I mean, he started for us from the ninth grade on. He has just been so dominant everywhere he’s been.” Raiders fans can only hope this mean streak will continue at the NFL level.

The fact Edwards has started at every level football-wise since ninth grade is quite impressive in itself. The NFL is an entirely different story, that being said, Edwards performed lights out during camp. Even before Williams went down, there were rumblings that Edwards could start ahead of the veteran. The wait is now over, even if it’s unfair, there’s a lot weighing on these two rookies’ shoulders for the Raiders. Can they deliver?
