As the NFL offseason begins, we here at the Raider Rambler Blog would like to wish Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie a Happy Birthday.
Happy Birthday to the Raiders general manager!
After having been given the keys by owner Mark Davis to run football operations, McKenzie completely turned around the culture in Oakland. It was not long ago that the team was futile, with a 4-12 record and revolving coaches. Not anymore, it’s all in the past now.
Looking forward, all of Raider Nation’s eyes will be on McKenzie this offseason as we see what he has up his sleeve at the NFL Draft and during free agency. I wish him good health as he and his front office continue to build towards a Super Bowl. Happy Birthday, Reggie.
As Mario Tovar from The Raiders Wire put it, he’s been a godsend.
“Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie has been a godsend for the team, and today we celebrate him as McKenzie turns 54 years of age. Since his hiring by Raiders owner Mark Davis back in 2012, McKenzie has led the team from being a laughingstock to one of the best teams in the NFL. From shedding and reshaping the Raiders’ payroll, to his excellent free agent signings and home run draft picks, McKenzie unquestionably earned the accolades that came his way in 2016. The savvy general manager will be looking to one-up his 2016 performance as he embarks upon year No. 54. McKenzie and the Silver and Black will get his first crack at doing so in approximately six weeks when the 2017 NFL draft gets underway on Apr 27-29.”
