The start of preseason football is an ambiguous thing in all its glory, on the one hand, it marks the return of professional football after the yearly summer drought every fan endures but, in all honesty, it is just that, preseason. In spite of that, however, all of us here at RaiderRamble.com are ecstatic as this will mark our first season covering the Oakland Raiders since the site’s inception back in April. With that shameless plug out-of-the-way on to business, playing the Arizona Cardinals in the preseason opener. Despite this being preseason here’s a few quick hits and the “Ramble Forecast” for the game.
Raiders CB’s vs. Cardinals WR’s
As the Silver and Black open up their 2017 journey they will be without Gareon Conley but more importantly, this game will be big for some of the unsung players such as Breon Borders and T.J. Carrie to show what they can contribute moving forward.
Unfortunately, it’s preseason and many of the Cardinals’ receivers will be out such as John Brown, Chad Williams, and Carlton Agudosi meaning any sort of display has to be taken with a grain of salt.
The Offensive Line
It is highly doubtful quarterback Derek Carr takes any snaps. However, the offensive line still has to show up, and more importantly, they must prove that this unit can somehow continue without Donal Penn if need be.
Looking forward to seeing rookie David Sharpe take the field and see how he’s shaping up and Vadal Alexander, and of course, how will Marshall Newhouse look in his Raiders debut.
Final Prediction: Raiders win, 14-7. Going to keep the score low with the Silver and Black missing so many weapons but a win would be a win, no one likes to lose in the preseason.
