The Jon Gruden hype is dominating the headlines for the Oakland Raiders right now, but could another prodigal son return?
The love for Heisman Trophy winner and future NFL Hall of Famer Charles Woodson is undeniable. One of the most popular to ever put on the Silver and Black, a return by Woodson could possibly send Raider Nation into a frenzy.
Woodson making a comeback with the Raiders?
Via Twitter, it was Woodson himself who responded to the Raider Ramble’s own Gavin Brooke on this possibility.
Would give it some thought

The reactions from Raider Nation are exactly what you’d expect them to be. The fact is, the love for Woodson remains intact despite being retired.
No one has had more respect for #Oakland and its fans than C-Wood, as symbolized by his “O†call sign and farewell speech at the Coliseum. His homecoming was as important to me as Gruden’s & Marcus Allen’s. #HOF #GOAT #GoBlue #RaiderNation @0aklandish @MarcusAllenHOF @NFL

No need to think, just do it! Share your knowledge with those young guns that obviously need some mentoring.

Let’s not forget there are so many layers to this, yes, he was a great player but he doesn’t have NFL coaching experience. One positive, obviously, would be the credibility he brings in as a player who was a Super Bowl Champion (XLV) and nine-time Pro Bowler. Perhaps, as a defensive assistant, he could be the mentor that youngsters such as Gareon Conley, Obi Melifonwu, and Shalom Luani really need.
For now, we’ll have to wait and see if anything comes from all this excitement as Raider Nation is riding high on nostalgia right now.
