Raiders Prospect Spotlight: Tatum Slack

With the NFL Draft quickly approaching, here at the Raider Ramble we’re spotlighting college players who hope to suit up for an NFL team this season and in particular, the Oakland Raiders. Today’s spotlight is on CB Tatum Slack from the University of Buffalo.

First of all, good evening Mr. Slack and thank you for taking the time to answer some of my questions tonight.

Raiders Prospect Spotlight: Tatum Slack

So tell us a little about yourself Mr. Slack?

I’m from Rancho Cucamonga, California. I went to Upland High School. I didn’t receive any college offers out of high school due to academics, so I ended up going the JUCO route and attending Chaffey College. I played one season at Chaffey and was fortunate enough to receive an offer from Buffalo.

How do you feel about your skills translating as a defensive back to the NFL? Are you ready for the immense challenge if given the opportunity?

I feel my skills will translate very well in the NFL. I played outside corner my entire college career but I feel I also have the ability to play nickel in the NFL and guard the more shiftier and quick receivers. I also feel I have the versatility to play safety at the next level if need be. I’m more than ready for the challenge of being in the NFL. It’s been a dream of mine since I was a kid and I’ve been working my whole life for this moment.

You’ve played your collegiate career at Buffalo, another former Raider played there maybe you’ve heard of him? How big of a presence does Khalil Mack still have at your school?

Khalil definitely still has a huge presence at UB. His success at UB and in the NFL has given everyone in our program someone to look up to and has given inspiration to players that aspire to be in the NFL.

When you look at the landscape of the NFL right now is there any particular defensive coordinator you’d like to play for?

Not in particular, no. I just want to play for a defensive coordinator that’s going to put me in the best position to succeed and help the team win. At the end of the day it’s about winning, so whatever defensive scheme I end up playing in I just want to be able to do my job at a high level and win games.

Now most of our readership is made up of Raider fans so with that said, if the Silver and Black were to give you an opportunity what would you like your message to be to Raider Nation?

My message would be that Raider Nation would be getting a player that’s going to come ready to work every single day to get better. A player that’s going to bring energy, leadership and passion to a team. And a player who’s going to do his job at a high level and help bring a championship to the Raiders organization.

Well we’d like to thank Mr. Tatum for his time and be sure to give him a follow on Twitter and stay tuned to the Raider Ramble as we bring you more prospect spotlight interviews, Ramble On.
