Raiders LB Te’Von Coney Might End Up Being Top UDFA Steal

The Oakland Raiders addressed many of their weaknesses in the 2019 NFL draft, but they didn’t stop there and added undrafted free agent Te’Von Coney to revamp their linebacker corps.

The former Fighting Irish found a home with the Silver and Black after the draft came and went. His collegiate stats merited a look and that’s exactly what he got as he now joins a linebacker group that features youngsters such as Jason Cabinda, Marquel Lee, and Nicholas Morrow.

Pro Football Focus recently shared a Tweet in which they have Coney as the highest ranked UFA according to their big board.

It should be noted, that Coney will be joining a crowded group though. Besides the aforementioned young men above, the Raiders also added veterans Vontaze Burfict and Brandon Marshall, which means he’ll have to fight for playing time. By the same token, PFF did state that he should do more than “compete for a roster spot” as Austin Gayle highlighted his 90.5 coverage grade and 91.7 run defense grade, which ranked inside the top 10 for all college linebackers.

We still have to wait and see who makes it out of training camp and then preseason before we crown any players but as PFF pointed out, the Raiders might have a potential steal in their hands.
