The Oakland Raiders will need quite a few players to step up and be X-factors this season. The team will need more than three, but here are three potential X-factors for the 2019 season.
Jalen Richard
While he might not be the feature running back, Richard can still be a key component to the Raiders offense. Defenses will have to focus on wide receivers Antonio Brown and Tyrell Williams. This should give Richard a lot of one-on-one matchups against linebackers. Those matchups will make the four-year veteran more effective as a receiver, which is becoming very important in NFL offenses.
Karl Joseph
Heading into training camp, the deepest position on defense might be safety. Reports are that Joseph and Johnathan Abram are taking first team reps at safety, with Lamarcus Joyner primarily playing slot corner. Defensive coordinator Paul Guenther likes to utilize versatile players and versatility is one of Joseph’s strengths. Being on the first team and an ideal fit in Guenther’s defense, could lead to a big year for K.J.

Trent Brown
Oakland has added a few deep threats on offense this offseason. While those additions will certainly help the down field passing attack, the offensive line will need to give quarterback Derek Carr enough time to throw to those weapons. Brown is now the highest paid offensive lineman in NFL history and with a contract like that, the ex-Patriot will be looked upon to hold down the right side.
