Raider legend Cliff Branch is gone at the age of 71. Many, including my good friend Kenny King Jr., have said that Branch was a great Raider and an even better man. The whole Oakland Raiders organization is in mourning, but Branch deserved better from the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Just like many Raiders before him, Branch had been waiting on the call to Canton for too long. The hope was that Branch would get the call next year when they add more legends than ever before. But like his old teammate Kenny Stabler, he was snubbed his entire late life.

With three Super Bowl Rings, 67 touchdowns, 8, 685 yards, and 501 receptions, the resume speaks for itself. Branch deserved this and now his teammates and family deserve it. The NFL needs to do the right thing, and stop this generational, anti-Raiders bias that’s become a regular thing. One day, maybe, just maybe, past Raiders will get their day in Canton without having to wait until they’re in the ground. It’s a travesty of the greatest magnitude.Â
R.I.P. Cliff Branch and thank you for the memories.
