The Las Vegas Raiders added some depth at wide receiver today when they signed Nelson Agholor to a one-year deal.
Whether Agholor actually contributes this season or simply becomes a camp body will remain to be seen. As fans already know, the Raiders opted to reload at defense this free agency, which leads me to believe they’ll be addressing wide receiver at the draft.

The former USC Trojan isn’t a number one wide receiver by any stretch, but to say his signing doesn’t help the Raiders is short sighted. Vic Tafur of The Athletic even pointed out via his Twitter that Agholor was the 83rd ranked free agent in the Athletic’s Top 100.
Agholor was 83rd in The Athletic's Top 100 FA list:
"Averaged 5.3 yards per target last year, which ranked 147th out of 155. … Can separate and flashes YAC ability but has bad hands … best season came in 2017 when he had 62 catches for 768 yards and 8 touchdowns."— Vic Tafur (@VicTafur) March 21, 2020
Raiders Blog: Is the value there?
The value is there all things considered, in 2017 and 2018 Agholor amassed 700 plus receiving yards those two years. In addition, he caught 60 plus passes those two years. In other words, there’s some upside with this signing. Not to mention Agholor has totaled 476 yards after the catch with 39 total receptions. Don’t you think he’s a positive addition? Zay Jones only had 25 receptions last year so Agholor would automatically be an upgrade as the fourth wide receiver.
It’ll be interesting to see how the wide receiver corps shapes up post draft. Other than Hunter Renfrow, no one’s really safe from the 2019 group, stay tuned Raider Nation.
