CB Darqueze Dennard Should Be On Raiders Radar

After a busy free agency, the Las Vegas Raiders still need help and they might get it in the 2020 NFL Draft but what about reuniting a particular duo?
The duo we’re referring to is free agent cornerback Darqueze Dennard and Raiders defensive coordinator Paul Guenther. Dennard had some very productive seasons under Guenther with the Bengals, so his familiarity might be beneficial.

The team recently signed Eli Apple and there’s the fact that most money has already been allocated, but considering how badly the Raiders need quality corners, I’m sure general manager Mike Mayock can figure out something. If the Silver and Black move on from Gabe Jackson, they could free up some space. Point is that Dennard will probably go fast, perhaps he’ll be signed before the end of this weekend, so they’d better hurry.

As far as what Dennard can bring to the table, let’s briefly look at 2019. He started five out of nine games and while he didn’t have any interceptions, he was solid. He had five passes defensed and 37 total tackles by the end of the regular season. When facing opposing quarterbacks, he only gave up a 48.6% competition percentage on the 35 times he was targeted. In blitz packages, Dennard actually was brought in 11 times and got two quarterback hits.
The potential is there and given the familiarity, this could be a big signing if the Raiders can manage it.
