After the Las Vegas Raiders reloaded their defense in free agency, NBC Sports is predicting something big come draft time.
Most of the glaring holes the Raiders had on defense, linebacker and defensive line depth, were addressed. What about the offense? NBC Sports thinks general manager Mike Mayock could hit an offensive jackpot next month.
Raiders Blog: The Prediction
NBC Sports writer Josh Schrock laid out a prediction in which the offense not only retools at wide receiver, but possibly selects their future signal caller.
“The Raiders already got Lamb at No. 12, but some trades see Jeudy slip to No. 19… Jon Gruden sees a chance to build the best offense in the league and adds Jeudy to a cast that includes Lamb, Hunter Renfrow, Darren Waller, Tyrell Williams and Josh Jacobs.”
Wow, this would translate into the Raiders having a potential offensive juggernaut at least on paper. Clearly, incumbent quarterback Derek Carr wouldn’t have room for excuses with such a plethora of weapons at his disposal.

Speaking of quarterback, Schrock points out that the Raiders, in spite of having Carr, would pick up a quarterback.
“But the Silver and Black aren’t done, they trade two of their third-round picks and a future fourth-round pick to move into the second-round and take Jalen Hurts, who they believe can be the quarterback of the future.”
Hurts would definitely be an interesting prospect for the Raiders. The issue with a rookie signal-caller is head coach Jon Gruden’s inability to prove he can mentor one. So far, he’s had the most success with Brad Johnson and Rich Gannon. This makes you wonder who’s that offensive powerhouse is being built for? If the Raiders could accomplish this it could be a coup. They would still have a third round pick and maybe could find value at CB. If they are thinking this way I believe they should resign Daryl Worley. It would be a mistake to let him walk under this scenario.
You never know, but could be the recipe for Carr to win the super bowl and have hurts sit for a couple of years. More realistically, MM gets a true #1 for DC in 2020; if the Raiders get a deep playoff run , DC stays. If not time to go.
If you’re thinking the Raiders are in intending on drafting a QB to groom, then why put a 5th round tender on Peterman, and then sign Marriota? AND you still have Deshon Kizer on the roster to develop. How many young QB’s can Jon develop at one time? And how many roster spots do you want to devote to QB?? Makes no sense, yet the rumors seem to happen every year.
