Jerry Jones Looking To Make A “Mark” in Raiders’ New Home

Even though the NFL schedule for the 2020 regular season is set, nothing is stopping Jerry Jones from wanting dibs on playing at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Raiders are just a few months away from opening their new state-of-the-art facility, which will be a crown jewel in the NFL. So it’s no surprise Jones would want to help christen the new field. As we’ve seen before, the larger-than-life Cowboys owner usually gets what he wants.

A great example of the influence Jones yields in the NFL is that he was one of the biggest reasons for the Raiders moving to Vegas. Whether it was out of a personal promise made to Raiders owner Mark Davis’s late father, Al Davis, or perhaps because it made sense from a business and gambling standpoint.

In a column featured on Sports Illustrated, Jones states that he’s very “excited” about opening up the L.A. Rams’ new home and that he’d like to be “their first game, both teams, first game. Which is not impossible.”

Being that it would likely be a preseason game since those schedules aren’t finalized yet, it wouldn’t exactly turn heads. However, given the relationship Jones has with the Davis family, maybe this could be worked out. With the Cowboys having a strong fan base in Southern California and given the strong presence Raider Nation has in the region as well, this could turn out to be something fun.
