Raiders Late Round Pick Sparks Excitement

With the 139th pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Las Vegas Raiders chose Amik Robertson out of Louisiana Tech. With the selection of Damon Arnette in the first round, the cornerback position just became a lot more physical for the Silver and Black.

The Raiders did a solid job, once again, letting the draft come to them. Some expert analysts said the Raiders reached on Arnette in round, but general manager Mike Mayock and head coach Jon Gruden showed last year that they’re going to draft “their guy” whenever and wherever they get the chance to. It seems like Robertson was one of those players. Fans and analysts alike seem to be ecstatic about the pickup of the Lousiana product and they absolutely should be. Robertson is an old-school Raiders player to a tee. Take no prisoners, ask no questions, leave no one alive type of player. The Raiders have missed that out of their secondary the past few seasons.

How did Twitter react?

Robertson isn’t shy about his belief in himself:

With comments like these, expected or not, you have to believe he’s going to come in and work his tail off and show the league that he was worthy of going much earlier than the 139th. Maurice Moton of Bleacher Report had him in his top 10 sleeper picks:

Fans also seem quite pumped to watch this kid play for the Silver and Black.

Analysts are even aware of the value Robertson can bring.

Robertson himself seems primed and ready to go.

With Arnette, Robinson and Abram, the Raiders secondary should be one of the meanest and nastiest units around the league in this upcoming season. It would appear Mayock and Gruden want their own version of the Legion of Boom or perhaps the Silver and Black Attack.
