Raiders DE Maxx Crosby on Sacking Mahomes: “It’s Going To Happen”

The AFC West will go through the Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs in 2020. Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby is fully aware of this fact and he’s ready to do his part.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback in the AFC West until his team isn’t on top anymore. Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has his own cult following that proclaims he’s the best in the division. However, his record at Arrowhead Stadium says otherwise. If the Raiders want to overtake the Chiefs, it will be up to the defense to get them there. The reloaded defensive unit will have to get to Mahomes and harass him relentlessly for an entire game. Crosby, for his part, will have to bring him down at some point.

Crosby recently appeared on Bleacher Report’s “Lefkoe Show,” where he spoke on Mahomes and this upcoming season.

“I was close a few times,” Crosby said. “It pissed me off pretty much. Pretty much every second after that game was over, both times, I was just mad and blah blah blah, whatever. He’s a different type of player, too. He’s one of those guys. He just backpedals, he’ll throw the ball from weird angles, it’s not like sacking a regular quarterback. Yeah, I’m definitely looking forward to sacking him. It needs to happen. It’s definitely going to happen.”

Clearly, Crosby’s making it his personal mission to get to Mahomes this season and while it won’t be easy, if anyone on the Raiders can do it, it’s “Mad Maxx.” As he himself pointed out, sacking Mahomes is no easy task due to his feet and unorthodox style. This is not to say he’s untouchable, the New England Patriots among several teams have figured out how to get to Mahomes. It’ll be up to Raiders defensive coordinator Paul Guenther and his defensive line coach, Rod Marinelli, to put Crosby in the perfect position to finally get a lick on Mahomes just like the Patriots once did.
