The Las Vegas Raiders as a whole have something to prove after a 7-9 campaign in 2019. Let’s take a look at three offensive players who have the most to prove in this upcoming NFL season.
Looking to bounce back in 2020, the Silver and Black’s offense must elevate their game. Give credit where credit is due, there were some bright spots within the offense such as running back Josh Jacobs. However, as everyone witnessed it wasn’t enough to get the team back into the playoffs. Quarterback Derek Carr had a good season statistically-wise, but more will be required of him. Not to sound like we’re picking on Carr here because these three players will have to step up in 2020.
With that said, who are three offensive players that will have the most to prove this upcoming season?
Did the Raiders get the Kolton Miller pick right?
The first draft pick of Jon Gruden’s second tenure still has a lot to prove in 2020. There were improvements in 2019 but overall, there’s still work to be done for Miller. This is especially true if the Raiders plan on making any noise in their inaugural Las Vegas season.
In Miller’s defense, the former UCLA tackle has proven to be reliable and has played in all 32 career games. He also worked on his discipline, it resulted in a drop in total penalties from eight in 2018 to just three in 2019. Big picture, unfortunately, Miller must step up and show he’s the long-term answer in his third year. According to Pro Football Focus, Miller’s run-blocking grade was a dismal 55.6 and his pass-blocking grade was 68.4 in 2019. Miller’s been solid but not great, and in 2020, he should be one of the Raiders with the most to prove.
