The Las Vegas Raiders stunned many folks when they opted to trade their highly touted “Joker” in Lynn Bowden Jr. earlier today.
Many fans have become accustomed to the Raiders making questionable decisions over the past few years. The decision to draft Bowden excited many due to the former Kentucky Wildcat’s versatility. Even though the team envisioned him as a running back, Bowden also played wide receiver and quarterback in college. There was the possibility of using Bowden in Wildcat formations, but general manager Mike Mayock had said Bowden would be primarily a running back.
Either way, it appears that Bowden had a “bad camp” per Vic Tafur of the Athletic, which might’ve contributed to his release.

Obviously, this move caught everyone by surprise as the team’s rookie class was expected to contribute right away. In fact, Raiders brass had been praising the rookies all camp, but Silver and Black Today’s Maurice Moton made an excellent point via Twitter.

Either way, the 2020 season is off to a very intriguing start. If anything, Raider Nation was just reminded that you just never know what Gruden is going to do. Maybe team brass decided to admit they made a mistake and wanted to cut their losses by getting some draft capital in return. In the meantime, let’s give the Raiders the benefit of doubt.
