So far the NFL has managed the COVID-19 pandemic as well as one could expect. Unfortunately, attendants at a local event saw Las Vegas Raiders players not wearing masks.
News broke out that the Tennessee Titans had three players and as many as five staff members test positive. The staff promptly evacuated team facilities following the development. In addition, this event puts the game between the Titans and the Pittsburgh Steelers in jeopardy for Thursday night. As this news came to light, attendants at the DragonRidge Country Club claim they saw Raiders players not wearing masks.

Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal further elaborated on what went down in Henderson, Nevada. On top of the potential fallout from the Raiders players attending the event, the city has already given the venue a $2,000 fine.
“The event drew a crowd of more than 100, according to an attendee, twice the state limit in effect on Monday of no more than 50 for indoor gatherings. Videos from the gala show several maskless Raiders, including quarterback Derek Carr and tight end Jason Witten, interacting with attendees.”
Raiders Owner Comments On Situation
Team owner Mark Davis did comment on Tuesday morning expressing disappointment via Bonsignore and the Review-Journal.
“You don’t like seeing this. I don’t know that it’s actually been built into our memories that you have to wear a mask.”
For the Silver and Black, this will only add to their list of COVID-related issues with the NFL. Previously, head coach Jon Gruden received a $350,000 fine for failing to properly use his face mask during a game. On top of that, the league is looking into how a non-credentialed individual gained access to the team’s locker room following their Week 2 win. No matter how you feel about COVID-19, the Raiders have so far botched public perception amidst a pandemic. The NFL will likely not take any of this lightly moving forward as we wait to see what fallout results.
