Raiders Week 5: Raider Ramble Reaction

It was a sight to behold at Arrowhead Stadium, the Las Vegas Raiders outgunned the Kansas City Chiefs in quarterback Derek Carr’s greatest game so far. Everything was clicking for the Silver and Black, the deep passes, Josh Jacobs scoring touchdowns, and the defense generated pressure on Patrick Mahomes. Could this win catapult the Raiders in 2020?

Here at the Raider Ramble, we are presenting a panel of our contributors for some instant reactions. Let’s see what everyone had to say about yesterday’s game.

I think we all hoped that the Raiders would show up and give the Chiefs a fight. Nobody expected them to not only win but to have a 16 point lead at one point. Derek Carr silenced a lot of his doubters this week, myself included. And now they head into the bye at 3-2.

We all wanted the win and hoped it could happen, but this is a grand surprise. Respect for the defense for the second half. Carr, after the pick, played the best he could!!! Now a two-week break and all the momentum we could ask for…

What a game, man. It’s still hard for me to believe Carr and co. won at Arrowhead, but boy am I happy. Carr silenced a lot of critics today, as he went into Kansas City and outplayed Mahomes. Paul Guenther may have saved his job with his units’ second-half performance. The Raiders head into the bye week with high spirits and a 3-2 record.

Unbelievable victory, still hard to believe it. The Raiders displayed a complete team effort. Jon Gruden’s tactic of resting Josh Jacobs until the fourth quarter was crucial. Without Devontae Booker’s contributions, I’m not sure Jacobs has the stamina to close the game the way he did.

Why can’t we have that Derek Carr every game? As great as the victory was, it is becoming obvious that Jon Gruden’s playcalling is the real issue. Talk about a timely delivery, Paul Guenther probably saved his job yesterday, had the Raiders gotten blown out, I couldn’t have imagined him keeping the defensive coordinator job. On a side note, it was great seeing Trent Brown and Henry Ruggs III out on the field. What might have been had it not been for the injury bug in 2020?

Carlos Sanchez, @HaeruHariken

I really thought the Chiefs were going to crush the Raiders. I have no problem admitting I was wrong. Carr has always had the talent, it was just a matter of putting things together and he did it at Arrowhead. He shows he can throw a really good deep ball. Hopefully, he and Jon Gruden try to take more shots downfield more often. Good things happen when he does.
