Rough Rookie Campaign Continues For Raiders CB Damon Arnette

Surely when the Las Vegas Raiders drafted cornerback Damon Arnette back in April they could not have foreseen what his rookie campaign has come to look like.

The Silver and Black selected Arnette in hopes he would shut down the field opposite of 2019 standout, Trayvon Mullen. We all knew that Arnette would experience rookie woes but nothing like what he is going through. Though he didn’t look amazing in the early going, there was reason to believe Arnette would come along as the season progressed. Unfortunately, a thumb injury temporarily derailed his playing days for the Silver and Black. More recently, on top of having to recover from thumb surgery, Arnette got more bad news.

Raiders Placed Arnette On The Reserve/COVID-19 List

Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network reported on Monday morning that Arnette was being placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list by the Raiders. This does not necessarily mean that he tested positive, even still, it adds on to what has been a rough career start. The Raiders no doubt are hoping he can recover but not having one of your first-round picks contribute should be frustrating. The team experienced this last year when they lost safety Johnathan Abram in the first game of the year.

With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers coming up on Sunday Night Football, the Raiders will just have to make due. The platoon that is currently holding down Arnette’s side performed good enough against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 5. It will be up to them to continue the fight as the Raiders’ prized rookie deals with another blow.
