Fans’ Social Media Reaction To Raiders T Trent Brown Not Playing

The Las Vegas Raiders walked out of Cleveland with an ugly, hard-fought victory, however, this was no thanks to tackle Trent Brown.

The saga surrounding the Raiders tackle continued this Sunday as he was listed as inactive ahead of the game with the Cleveland Browns. Following the victory, Raiders head coach Jon Gruden spoke regarding Brown, it turns out he was expected to play but fell ‘ill.’

Fortunately for Brown, it was made clear before the game that his illness had nothing to do with COVID-19. This was reported by NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport via Twitter, regardless, it is not a good look all around. For the Raiders, they’re not getting their money’s worth. In fact, Josh Dubow of the Associated Press pointed out that Brown has only played 10+ snaps in only 11 of 23 games since he signed his $66 million, four-year contract.

Given what’s transpired regarding Brown, here at the Raider Ramble, we decided to ask fans how they feel about all this. As always, Raider Nation did not disappoint with their responses on Twitter and Instagram.

How Do Raiders Fans Feel About Brown Right Now?

When the size of Brown’s contract is taken into consideration, it is no surprise most fans are frustrated. Some feel that those resources could have been allocated to maybe retaining Khalil Mack. Or, at the very least, this money could have served better by being used on other key positions. By looking at Brown’s on-field production alone, as one reader pointed, he’s being paid to ride the bench.

There are some who still defend Brown pointing out that a calf injury and dealing with COVID-19 is very serious. Also, the lack of depth at tackle for the Raiders means Brown is that much more important, at least this current season. For now, it is unlikely the Raiders will ship Brown out, so fans will be hoping he can return next Sunday and help keep improve the winning streak to two.
