Right tackle Trent Brown has been a force for the Las Vegas Raiders when he’s healthy. However, that wasn’t the case last season and the Silver and Black could benefit from moving on from him. If that’s what they decide to do, they could bring in offensive tackle Kelvin Beachum.
Kelvin Beachum will be a coveted free agent
Beachum will be one of the best tackles in 2021’s free agency period and he happens to play on the right side. He’s listed as the 75th-best player available in Pro Football Focus’ top 100 list. He played in all 16 games for the Arizona Cardinals last season and recorded a 69.0 PPF grade. Moreover, he has graded between 67.0 and 70.0 in the last four seasons.
Pro Football Focus believes Beachum will get a one-year $4.5 million deal in the open market. He has missed just four games in the last four seasons and could quickly solidify the Raiders right tackle position.

The Raiders would have to move on from Trent Brown
Brown signed a four-year $66 million contract in 2019. Although the price was a bit too steep, it didn’t matter as he solidified the right tackle position. Nevertheless, it’s hard to justify paying ’77’ a big amount of money if he can’t manage to stay healthy, which was the case in 2020.
If the Raiders want to, they can give Brown the pink slip this offseason and save $14 million in cap space without incurring a dead cap hit. They could ask him to take a pay cut, but even then, it’s uncertain if he’s going to be healthy moving forward. The Raiders are currently in the red and whether they sign Beachum, they still need to do something to get back in cap shape.
This Las Vegas team could be better off parting ways with him and investing in a more reliable player, someone like Beachum. The move could represent an upgrade at the right tackle position and they could save some money in the process.
