One Potential Falcons Cap Casualty Raiders Should Consider

Much like the Las Vegas Raiders, the Atlanta Falcons will be parting ways with several veterans in order to fix their financial situation.

The Raiders will be busy this offseason and rightfully so. After an underwhelming 2020 campaign, they will be moving on from a few players. This is especially true for those with bloated contracts such as Lamarcus Joyner and Tyrell Williams. Parting ways with said players will give the team more financial flexibility, this will be key when they decide to add quality depth players. The team should consider former Kansas City Chief and potential ex-Falcon Allen Bailey.

Why should the Raiders add Allen Bailey?

The Silver and Black will need to sign veteran edge rushers this offseason depending on what happens with Vic Beasley and Takk McKinley. Adding Bailey could help the team with a proven pass rusher if nothing else. Back in 2018, he saw 13 starts with the Kansas City Chiefs and accumulated six sacks, five tackles for a loss, and 17 pressures. Unfortunately, Bailey’s playing time diminished these past two years with the Falcons, starting three games in that stretch.

Bailey would be an excellent addition as a third-down rusher in Gus Bradley’s front four. During his last year in Kansas City, he excelled as an outsider rusher in their 3-4 alignment. He had a career-high 847 defensive snaps in 2018 before those snaps quickly declined in Atlanta. If the Raiders can get Bailey cheap, he’d be an excellent reclamation project in Bradley’s defense which will need to generate pressure without much blitzing. They may be working on a limited budget but should be able to make a few signings this offseason.
