Current News

We start off the episode by examining two big pieces of Las Vegas Raiders news. First, we look at the release of wide receiver Tyrell Williams. Next, we estimate quarterback Marcus Mariota’s current trade value for the Silver and Black.

Raiders’ free agency and play calling

Once we finish with the current news, we welcome Evan Groat to the show. Evan is the host of Just Pod Baby and contributes frequently on Silver and Black Today. We start off talking about free agency and what he thinks the Raiders need to focus on as it quickly approaches.

Conservative play-calling on offense in the red zone is the next topic of conversation. We discuss Jon Gruden’s play-calling in that part of the field and discuss if it might not be aggressive enough for the team to be successful.

Quarterbacks and wrap-up

Since it is currently the offseason, the annual topic of replacing quarterback Derek Carr is a hot topic in Raider Nation. As a result, we look at the typical criticisms regarding ‘4’, and if they’ll affect him. Also, we examine the rumblings of trading for Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and if they are realistic.

With Tom Flores now elected to the Hall of Fame, we next ask if Cliff Branch will be enshrined as well. Additionally, the question of the need for an “alpha dog” on defense is addressed. We wrap up the interview with a discussion on the Raiders offensive line.
