Raiders: Exploring The Only Nation’s Fandom

After a quick glance at the latest Las Vegas Raiders news, The Only Nation Podcast crew explores the foundation of their Raider fandom.

Raiders News Round-Up

This week is thin on the news as organized team activities are somewhat limited to the press. Not much is going on for the Silver and Black. We announce the signings of guard Parker Ehinger, tight end Alex Ellis and defensive back, Roderic Teamer. We also mention the release of safety Rashaan Gaulden, offensive lineman Eric Magnuson and former basketball player/tight end Carson Williams.

Another story is the newest slate of College Football Hall of Fame nominees has been announced. There are several former Raiders on the list. These players include Steve Wisniewski, Marshawn Lynch, Michael Crabtree, and Willie Gault.

Fandom Foundation

Once the news review is over, we dive deep into our own stories of the foundation of our Raider fandom. While each story is unique, there are common threads that run through the stories. Among them is the camaraderie between Raiders fans. A unique part is Heidi sharing why her room as a child did not look like the typical little girl’s room. Another is T3 revealing a personal connection with a former quarterback, Vince Evans.

Opinions and Speculation

Once the foundation is discussed, we move onto opinions on current team happenings. We express relief that the Julio Jones sweepstakes are over. Divine Deablo and Tanner Muse are looked at as possible big contributors. Finally, a call for Beth Mowins to take over as the main announcer for Raiders’ games is made.

Wrap Up

To wrap up the episode, Homer and Heidi are given their weekly quiz question. One of them finally gets the answer right. Finally, we discuss the naming of a local hero who gives of themselves to help Las Vegas schoolchildren.
