The Las Vegas Raiders’ quarterback room is shining brighter than it has in a long time. We take a deep look at what is going on inside.
In the latest news…
In this week’s episode of The Only Nation Podcast, the crew covers some quick news. Then we take a close look at the Raiders’ current quarterback room. We discuss the signings of offensive lineman Sam Young and cornerback Blidi Wreh-Wilson. We also talk about Damon Arnette’s career and future with the team.
Inside the quarterback room
Next, we step into the quarterback room. Derek Carr is a polarizing player who has many fans and detractors in Raider Nation. His high points and lower points are examined and explored. On the other hand, Marcus Mariota’s heralded as a high-quality second quarterback on the roster. We all express comfort in knowing he would take over for Carr, if necessary. His ability in select packages is also seen as a bright spot.
Nathan Peterman is looked at next. He never had a chance in the league. Of course, his five interceptions in one half of his first game is mentioned, but we recognize that it was not completely his fault. He was thrown into a game situation when he was not ready and his confidence was destroyed. He has since been healing in the depths of the Raiders’ quarterback room and we wonder if he will ever have a future in the NFL.
Red zone failures
After leaving the quarterback room, we talk about one of the biggest weaknesses of last year’s team. Execution in the red zone was sorely lacking for the Silver and Black. We discuss if it was due to head coach Jon Gruden’s play calling, or if it was on the offensive line. Regardless, it is an area that needs to be improved upon if the Raiders want to see success.
Final wrap up
To begin wrapping up the episode we take our weekly Raiders quiz. Homer and Heidi manage to start another losing streak with their answers. This time they fail the quiz question on kick returners. Finally we honor a Raider hero who is making the difference in youth’s lives in Hawaii and Oregon.
