Garrett Wilson can change a game at any moment
Ohio State junior wide receiver Garrett Wilson is the definition of a playmaker. At any given moment, he possesses the ability to change the fortunes of a contest with one play.

As you can see above, he presents excellent athletic ability and play speed in the open field as a ball carrier. In the first two weeks of the 2021 season, he has averaged 15.2 yards per catch. In addition, he has scored a touchdown in each of the Buckeyes’ two contests. However, there is a method to his madness, and not many possess the gifts that Wilson does.
What are Wilson’s strengths?
Wilson is an elite talent when it comes to route-running. As a receiver, the ability to gain, maintain, and create separation is pivotal to success. The Austin, Texas native achieves all three with ease consistently.
‘Smooth’ will be one word mentioned a lot about Ohio St. WR Garrett Wilson and you saw it last night. He’s already a professional route runner. Reminds me some of Stefon Diggs coming out of Maryland.

In addition to super-route running, he is an exceptional athlete who can create spectacular catches due to his leaping ability.

When you think of a dependable wide receiver, he and his counterpart Chris Olave are second to none. However, while Wilson is a significant vertical threat that can score anytime the ball is in his hands, there are some cons to him as a prospect.

What are areas of concern and improvement for the Buckeye wide receiver?
First, the most eye-brow-raising concern about Garrett Wilson is his frame. At only six feet tall and 190 pounds, it’s a fair question of how that will translate to the NFL level. In addition, his physicality and inconsistency as a run blocker may concern some teams. Regardless, the Buckeyes’ can improve his play strength before reaching the NFL level with the world-class strength and conditioning coaches the organizations has. Overall, if a team’s primary concern of Wilson is his size and run blocking ability, they are missing the mark on a highly talented football player. Look for Garrett to continue his dominance throughout the season. Above all, there is no reason why he will not be a top 20 draft selection in the 2022 NFL draft.
