Maxx Crosby Raiders

Which 3 Raiders Defenders Need To Shine To Get To 4-1?

Well, after getting thumped by the Los Angeles Chargers, your Las Vegas Raiders sit at 3-1 today. Up next, they take on Khalil Mack and the Chicago Bears this afternoon. If the Raiders want to shake off the rough showing on Monday night, they need to react quickly, and here are the three defensive players who will be key.

Maxx Crosby

Now, this is not to say that Crosby has been bad. He has been stellar all season, but more will be needed from the defensive end today. Crosby came out the gates quick in Week 1 with two sacks but has yet to register another one since then. He has created havoc and batted passes down, but if he can come up with a sack or even strip-sack, it could spring some momentum for him and the Raiders. Lastly, with Mack coming back and how much the fans miss him, a dominant performance by Crosby would go a long way to the fans maybe letting the Mack trade go.

Johnathan Abram

Many questions were asked coming into the season regarding Abram. Honestly, he has not been a liability for the most part. He has been in on 33 tackles per ESPN, third-most on the team, and has made solid plays. Yes, he was a poster in Week 2 against the Steelers, but that’s neither here nor there. Today, he will be needed as the Bears bring in Justin Fields. The rookie can throw, and if he gets in the open field, it’s a problem. If Abram can spy and keep Fields in control, it will help the defense put the team in a position to win.

Amik Robertson

With injuries in the secondary, Robertson figures to receive a lot of playing time today. In extended action against the Chargers receivers, Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, Robertson held his own. He has taken a jump from Year 1 to Year 2, and though he may only be five-foot-eight, Robertson can play both inside and outside as he showed against the Chargers.

The Bears bring a versatile group of receivers in Allen Robinson, Marquise Goodwin, and Darnell Mooney, who had a big game last week. So Robertson will need to be ready and perform once again. Robertson has quickness and can also react well in the run game. In addition, he’s not scared to get in for hits which is always a welcome sight from a corner.

If all three defenders can perform to what is needed, the Raiders should be sitting at 4-1.
