Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III was involved in a fatal and tragic accident earlier today. Fans and media alike were shaken as details have continued to come out.
First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of today’s tragedy. Second, a player in Ruggs that was beginning to show promise in his second year might have possibly derailed his career today. By no means does that top or supersede the loss of life; however, there are intangibles at play. The season continues for the Raiders but to say 2021 has been rough is an understatement, at this point.
Upon TMZ confirming the story and initial details surfacing, all of Raiders Twitter reacted to the news. As human beings, most of the reactions were disappointment, sadness, anger, and shock. All of these are understandable within their realm. Sadness over someone losing their life, disappointment in a Raiders player, and anger because of the nature of drunk driving and its consequences.
Per the police, Ruggs was driving at a “high rate of the speed” in the center lane of a 3-lane road before merging into the right-most lane and striking the back of the other car. That car caught on fire, the driver was trapped in their seat and firefighters couldn’t save her.

Raider Nation Reacts
Sorry to anyone who is disappointed that I don’t have the right words for this Henry Ruggs incident that has left someone dead. I keep trying to find the right words but failing. If you’ve got any good ones, feel free to send them my way.

Real happy I was too busy to be on Twitter today. Whole Ruggs thing is just sad and half of Raiders twitter is arguing over the dumbest s***.
F*** football. F*** the arguments. A 23 year old lost their life and people on here making it about everything other than a kid dying

A truly somber day for fans and media alike. Devastating news for the families of those involved as well. Unfortunately, reality also exists for the Silver and Black. The season will not stop because of this tragedy, and the Raiders must tend to their season. It’s a difficult situation all around, and we will continue to learn more about this story as the rest of today and the week unfolds.
Exactly, I see people getting up in arms about talking about moves but the fact of the matter is that while this is sad, the Raiders still have a job to do and while we can address concern over what happened we must also look at what are the team needs. https://t.co/LWIxnYNVf7
