3 Players On Raiders Defense Needing To Step Up In Week 15

The collapse of the Las Vegas Raiders appears to be in full swing, and the offseason seems so close now. However, there’s still football left to be played. Up next are the Cleveland Browns.

The logo stomp against the Kansas City Chiefs led to a 48-9 stomping that has turned any hope into a fading thought. If the playoffs are still a possibility, the Raiders will need several breaks this weekend. Regardless, in order to have any chance, the Silver and Black have to take care of their own business first. That will start and end with the defense, so with that being said, these are the three defensive players with the most to prove on Saturday.

Divine Deablo

The Raiders’ rookie linebacker called out teammates following the debacle against the Chiefs. The young, talented player endeared himself to fans with the words he said and made himself a player to watch come next week. Deablo is the type of player the fans love. He’s a big, athletic linebacker with energy and a willingness to play. Deablo has been a key component on special teams, and with injuries in the linebacker corps, Deablo will need to play a major role in these last four games. This weekend, against the Browns, a solid game could help alleviate some of the struggles and pain from the recent run. Following Saturday, Deablo has the potential to become a key piece in the future.

Solomon Thomas

The defensive lineman has had a solid season for the Raiders, accounting for 30 total tackles, two pass deflections, and 3.5 sacks per Pro Football Reference. He’s been a constant presence up front, causing pressure and forcing two fumbles as well. In this matchup with the Browns, he will face a potent one-two punch in the backfield. The conditions look like they will be rainy and windy, which will lead to more of a running game. Thomas will play a pivotal role in trying to slow down the Browns’ rushing attack.

Quinton Jefferson

Jefferson’s performance could have a significant impact on the outcome of this game. The reemergence of Jefferson has been noteworthy and has been a great signing from this past offseason. He has compiled 39 tackles, three sacks, and two forced fumbles. The weather conditions again look to be terrible, so similar to Thomas, a big game from Jefferson would go a long way towards a victory and keep the slim playoff hopes alive.
