After an improbable win against the Indianapolis Colts, the Las Vegas Raiders find themselves on the verge of clinching a playoff spot.
Raiders Defeat Colts
A month ago, the Raiders’ playoff hopes appeared grim after losing to the Kansas City Chiefs, 48-9. Since then, the Silver and Black have won three games in a row to set up a “win and we’re in” scenario. Las Vegas put themselves in that spot by pulling off a surprise 23-20 victory in Indianapolis.
The Raiders started strong as they took their opening drive 75 yards to score on a Josh Jacobs touchdown run. The 12-play drive chewed up 7:09 off the clock. While Colts running back Jonathan Taylor had a 100-yard rushing game, the Las Vegas defense held their opponent to 262 yards of total offense.
Clinching Scenario
This win has put the Raiders in a “win and you’re in” scenario against their final regular season opponent, the Los Angeles Chargers. There’s a mathematical possibility that both the Chargers and Raiders make the playoffs. Whichever team wins the game is guaranteed a wildcard berth.
Remembering John Madden
After recapping the Colts game and setting the stage for the Chargers matchup, our hosts wrap up the episode with a tribute to John Madden. Madden was a legendary coach, TV announcer, and video game icon. He was the first Raiders head coach to lead the team to victory in a Super Bowl. The Silver and Black won Super Bowl XI after the 1976 season by beating the Minnesota Vikings, 32-14. Madden passed away at the age of 85 at the end of last month.
